How much medication does my vial contain?

To determine the amount of medication in your vial, you'll need to identify both the concentration of the medication and the volume of liquid in the vial. Look for this information on the vial label. Keep in mind that many medications may be compounded with multiple ingredients, each with its own concentration.

Once you have the concentration and volume, multiply them to find the total amount of medication in the vial. For example, if your vial contains 2ml of medication with a concentration of 5mg/0.4mg/ml, then there would be 10mg of the main medication and 2mg of the secondary medication.

This same formula can also be used to calculate the amount of medication in a specific dose. For instance, if you need 0.05ml of the medication, you would get 0.25mg of the main medication and 0.125mg of the secondary medication.
